“What you seek is seeking you.” - anonymous
There’s a tension we carry when life feels uncertain, like trying to hold an ocean in our hands. We squeeze, we clench, we plan. We imagine every possible outcome and exhaust ourselves rehearsing futures that may never come.
But there is another way.
Magic doesn’t arrive through clenched fists. It waits in the breath between thoughts, in the slow moments we usually rush past. The most remarkable turns in my life came not when I was pushing or striving, but when I gave up (…mostly after kicking and screaming for far too long). When I let go, even just a little,I allowed something larger to move through me.
As a father, I’ve seen it most clearly in my son. He doesn’t worry about how it’s all going to work out. He trusts in play. In wonder. He stumbles into beauty simply by making space for it. Somewhere along the way, we traded that birthright for calendars, goals, and tight chests.
But the soul doesn’t respond to control. It listens for silence.
We are not meant to know every step ahead. The map is written in invisible ink and only reveals itself when we stop demanding to see it all at once. We think the miracle will come after we fix everything. But often the miracle is waiting for us to stop fixing: to open the window and let the wind in.
This is what it means to leave space for magic. For Mystery. Not passive waiting, but an active surrender. A heart unclenched. A life lived as a soft invitation rather than a rigid plan.
Magic responds to presence. It likes to arrive unannounced, in the quiet moment when you are no longer looking. When you trust that even in the unknown, you are being guided.
So if today you are tired from holding too much, loosen your grip. Sit under a tree. Watch the light move across the floor. Breathe in the mystery. You do not need to know how it will all work out. You just need to leave space for it to.

Expedition
Step outside without a plan. Walk slowly, letting your senses lead you. Don’t try to accomplish anything. Just notice the world that presents itself: the pattering of squirrel feet, the birdsong, the gentle caress of your ancestors.
